Fraud Alert

Protect your credit during the funding process. Setting up fraud alerts and credit monitoring keeps your identity secure while you're applying for new accounts.

Fraud Alert & Credit Protection

Applying for new credit means your identity is more exposed than usual. Putting protective measures in place — before you apply — keeps everything secure.

Recommended Protections

  • Initial Fraud Alert — free, lasts 1 year. Lenders must take extra steps to verify your identity.
  • Extended Fraud Alert — free for 7 years. Requires identity theft report.
  • Credit Freeze — free, blocks new accounts entirely. Must be lifted before applying.
  • Credit Monitoring — real-time alerts when new accounts are opened or inquiries posted.

How to Place an Alert

Contact any one of the three bureaus (they're required to notify the other two): Experian, Equifax, or TransUnion.

If You're Already a Victim

If you suspect identity theft, file a report at IdentityTheft.gov and contact your CCS advisor immediately. We'll pause any active applications and help you secure your file.
